VISA

The visa can be issued upon arrival at the airport or at the Diplomatic and Consular Representations of Madagascar of your place of residence

The visa and stamp duty are free of charge for service and diplomatic passport holders

For regular passport holders :

  • the visa is free for stays of less than 15 days ,
  • 16 to 30 days: 150,000 Ar or equivalent amount in Euro or Dollars
  • A 10 euro stamp duty is payable at the airport for visa applicants upon arrival demandeurs de visa à l’arrivée.

o Visa applicants must present a valid passport for at least 6 months on arrival at the airport

Health requirements

Entry to Madagascar does not require a COVID test, testing or COVID vaccination certificate
Departure health requirements are based on country of destination

Customs Formalities

Prohibited items, items allowed per passenger, duty-free and departure tax-free as well as required conditions are available on http://www.douanes.gov.mg/particulier/voyageurs

Provisions concerning currency and gold jewelries :

  • Currencies less than 1000 Euros or its equivalent are exempt, a declaration with the Customs office is required for amounts of 1000 to 10 000 Euros or its equivalent. The transport of currency of more than 10.000 euro is prohibited
  • The entitlement for stamped gold jewelry per passenger is limited to 250 grams

* The people in charge of organizing the conference will be present at the airport to assist any arriving delegation in the formalities.

With more than 320 days of sunshine per year, the climate of Nosy Be is divided into two main seasons: between April and December, a favorable dry period for visiting the island and corresponding to the high season, and a wet season from December to March.

For communication from abroad, replace 0 with +261. The three telephone operators have prepaid offers for calls and internet connections.

Ariary (MGA) is the Malagasy national currency whose rate is variable (In February 2023: 1 Euro=+/-4.500MGA and 1USD=+/-4200MGA). Banknotes exist in denominations of MGA 20,000, 10,000, 5,000, 2,000, 1,000, 500, 200 and 100.
